My Story

I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when I was 4 years old. It's been an eventful journey so far with a few hospital stays lots of tears and frustration. But I have also learned a lot about myself and had lots of personal victories along the way.

When I was diagnosed I had finger pricks every time I needed to check my levels and injections with every meal and each time my levels were high. Thanks to research and advances in technology I now have a closed loop system, my own 'artificial pancreas'. Thanks to a sensor on my arm I no longer need regular finger pricks to check my levels and my pump provides a continuous delivery of insulin. I now get an alert on my phone if I am heading high or low so I can act quickly to correct.

Living with diabetes may have become easier over the years but the physical and emotional demands are sometimes overwhelming and exhausting and I am very grateful for all the support I get.

By sponsoring me you will be providing much needed funding to allow Diabetes UK to continue ground breaking research and continue to improve the lives of those who are affected.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’™
